History of Ear Candling / Coning
It is a comfortable technique that has been around for centuries. It
dates back as far as biblical times when hollow weeds from swamp areas
were used. It's an ancient healing process used by virtually every
healing tradition. It has been passed down for many generations by the
ancient Egyptians, the Chinese Traditional Medicine, Native Americans
and European cultures but it is almost unknown today. The process has
come into practice again and is being used by a wide section of people.
Ear Candling was even considered a spiritual practice
that also cleared the mind and senses.
How it Works
Ear candles are strips of cotton muslin dipped into a mixture of wax
and herbs with natural antibiotic, decongestant activity like sage,
cedar, spearmint, Echinacea, goldenseal, and rosemary, then formed into
a tapered cone. In the coning process, the narrow end of the candle is
gently placed at the ear canal, while the opposite end is lit. The
spiral design of the cone creates a vacuum which draws the smoothing
smoke into the ear canal. The smoke goes through the Eustachian tube in
to the lymphatic system, then by osmosis, it draws
accumulations out into the cone. The process is soothing, and takes
about an hour. Most people enjoy the process and find it very relaxing;
some to point of drifting off to sleep.
What you can expect during & after your session
During the ear candling session, you will only feel the candle being
carefully inserted in your ear. You may hear some cracking and popping
when ear wax is being loosened. Just relax and enjoy the face and neck
massage done during the Ear Candling session.
If
the patron has excessive hearing loss, they may feel more heat during
the Ear Candling session since their feeling senses are keener. If the
heat becomes uncomfortable, at your request, the Ear Candler will stop
the procedure and continue when you feel it is appropriate.
After the Ear Candling session, you may feel lightness in your head and
noises may appear to be much louder to your ears. This can be relieved
by putting a little ear oil on some cotton and inserting it in the
ears. You will find that your hearing has improved as most likely, the
blockage of wax is gone.
You may feel warmth or itching in the ears. This can be relieved by
putting a drop or two of Hydrogen Peroxide in the ears for a day or two
after the Candling session, then wipe them out with a cotton swab. The
Hydrogen Peroxide will continue to clean the ears and the itching will
stop. You may use the same procedure with Echinacea liquid or Colloidal
Silver instead of Hydrogen Peroxide.
You may find your sinuses are draining or the draining has increased.
This will relieve the pressure in your sinus areas and sinus headaches
should decrease. The senses of taste, smell, and sight may also be
increased.
